Description:  MED3.10 & MED3.20 are packs of Nutrient Agar Powder. Nutrient Agar Powder is a straw-coloured free-flowing powder that produces a general purpose culture medium (1.3% agar) suitable for the cultivation of bacteria.

Notes: 

 

  • Store powder at 10-30°C in a tightly sealed container.
  • To prepare nutrient agar, suspend 26g in 1L of distilled water. While stirring, bring to boil. Boil 3-5 mins. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Allow to cool to 70°C then pour into sterile plates and allow gel to set. Store set plates on their lids (upside down) in the fridge.
  • Nutrient growth media for microbiology are only available for sale to educational institutions where satisfactory disposal facilities are in place (Refer AS2243.3).
