Description: L7.2 is a Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) White-Eye culture containing 20 mature adult Drosophila (male and Female). Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) are used to demonstrate the principles of heredity. This fly is perfect for demonstrating Mendelian ratios, sex linkage, dominance and variation. Many generations of flies are produced in a relatively short period of time as the life cycle of the Drosophila is completed within twenty days.
- Recessive trait carried on the sex chromosome (chromosome 1): Eyes are pure white.
Virgin flies will emerge from the culture approximately 20 days after receipt of the delivery.
- You will need virgin females for any genetic crossing activities as the mature adults, supplied in our culture are not suitable for genetic work as they have already mated.
