Yeast extract dextrose (YED), "melt - cool - pour."
This convenient preparation consists of 100mL of YED agar gel. Simply loosen the lid and heat in a boiling water bath until evenly melted (approx 25-30 minutes). Allow to cool to about 60°C then pour into sterile petri dishes and allow to cool for approximately 30 mins. Once set, store in refrigerator overnight, sitting media side up (on their lids). This will help to prevent condensation from contacting the agar surface. Use plates within 2-3 weeks. Suitable for culturing UV Sensitive Saccharomyces cerevisiae cultures
