L3.20 Chilomonas Phylum: Mastigophora Class: Cryptomonadea Genus: Chilomonas Chilomonas are small (around 30-40µm) free-living freshwater protozoa that can be found in stagnant water in ponds, ditches and marshes. They can be cultured in hay infusions. They are pale to bluish-green in colour and their flattened bodies are convex on one side. Individuals have two flagella extending from their anterior and lack chloroplasts. See also Paramecium Culture Medium CM7. This can be used for Chilomonas. |
