Ring-tailed possum

Pseudocheirus peregrinus

The common ring-tailed possum is native to woodland and rainforest regions of Australia.  This small nocturnal marsupial is a member of the newly created order Diprotodontia.  Unlike other possums, this species is strictly herbivorous, feeding on a variety of plant parts including leaves, berries, flowers, bark and sap.  Populations have declined in recent years due to habitat loss and fur harvesting.

Model length: 6.5cm
