Homo sapiens neanderthalensis

Cast from a reconstruction of the La Chapelle-aux-Saints skull, this model is an accurate copy from a 50-55 year old male Neanderthal from ancient Europe of the species Homo (sapiens) neanderthalensis.  The original was discovered in southern France in 1908.  Age is given as 35,000 to 45,000 years.

Displayed on a pedestal that contains a relief map of the geographical area where the original specimen was found.

Size:  22 x 16 x 22.5 cm.  Weight approx 900g.
