Rheological Convection Fluid

This non-toxic fluid is supplied as a concentrate.  Mix with water to produce a swirling white liquid that can be safely used to demonstrate a range of flow effects.  For example,

  • Demonstrate classic thermal convection by gently heating the fluid in a flask or beaker

  • Show surface tension effects by mixing different liquids.  For example, add a small volume of ethanol to a beaker of Rheological Convection Fluid and watch the vigorous flow effects that result.

  • Model shoreline erosion and sedimentation by using a fan to generate flow around obstacles in a dish.

  • Explain aerodynamic flow without the need for a wind tunnel.  Look for the onset of turbulent flow above an aerofoil as the angle of attack increases.

The concentrated Rheological Convection Fluid makes up to ten times its original volume:

G86.10/50 is a 50mL bottle that makes up to 500mL of working fluid.

G86.10/500 is a 500mL bottle that makes up to 5L of working fluid.
