Leaf Histology

The two plant types, Monocots and Dicots are represented by cross sections from a corn leaf (440x) and a lilac leaf (430x).

The corn leaf image clearly identifies the Phloem, Xylem, Stoma, Guard cell, Epidermis, Veins, Mesophyll and air space.  The lilac leaf image shows the Cuticle, Vascular bundles, Palisade parenchyma and Spongy parenchyma.

A comparison between the cross section of a leaf from a Hydrophilic plant and a Xerophytic plant is also displayed.
