Photographs of a cross section of corn and buttercup root (40x and 32x) showing the recognizable differences in the vascular cylinder of Monocots and Dicots.  A more detailed close up of the epidermis for each example is also displayed.  The vascular cylinder at greater magnification (200x and 250x) has the following parts labelled:

• Pericycle

• Endodermis and starch granules.
