Histology of the Respiratory System

Large colour photomicrograph of lung tissue with labelled Terminal Bronchiole, Respiratory Bronchiole, Alveolar Duct, Alveolar Sac and Alveolus.

A cross section through one of the C-shaped rings of cartilage in the trachea identifying the Mucosa, Submucosa and Hyaline cartilage with a close-up of the mucosa (at 4300x magnification) displaying Goblet cells and Cilia.  Further plates of a Bronchiole and Artery, Alveolar sac, Alveolus and Dust cells are displayed.

Also includes a magnified image of a smoker’s lung.
