Introduce your students to the world of minerals

Provide your class with a hands-on lesson in the formation and characteristics of minerals. Using the set of specimens provided, the students observe the distinct characteristics of minerals and perform a variety of tests to classify them with respect to hardness, streaking, color, luster, specific gravity and reaction to acids. They'll also grow their own microcrystals to understand how crystals form beneath the earth's surface and what environmental conditions are required
